What Makes an Effective School?

That question has been cropping up recently, time and time again. Of course, we hear from a lot from experts on what makes schools effective, but very little is said by the students alone. My purpose in the next little while is to get feedback from my students on this very question. It will be interesting to hear what kind of responses I'll get. I know, some of them will be little naive, but I know that some will be quite profound. There is no one right answer, but the responses I hope to get will provide food for thought, don't you think?

You Never Stop Learning

I have been a teacher for over 20 years now and one thing I have learned is that you never stop learning new things from not only your own experiences, but from your kids. This is not something I really care to admit to them right away, but as my working relationship develops with them, they know this is true. Although we don't come out and say it, we do seem to share an inate understanding that we are here to learn from each other, and to accept each other as we all develop and grow in our own way.
